Form, Space, Vision.

April 3, 3024: 

Opening reception at The Gallery at Mountain Shadows from 5:30 PM – 6:30 PM. (There will be free valet service for gallery guests.) 

From 6:30 – 7:30 PM, we will move to the adjacent Mountain View Conference Room for a conversational panel discussion moderated by The School of Architecture.

The exhibition is on view through May 31, 2024.

FEATURED ARCHITECTS, LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTS, and DESIGNERS:

Craig Hodgetts and Hsnming Fung, H Plus F Design, Los Angeles, CA. Well known for their impeccable redesign of the Hollywood Bowl, Hodgetts and Fung convey a sense of discovery and wonder. With their project called The State of Ecotopia, originally presented in 1999, H + F examines themes of adaptability and change through the lens of science fiction.

Doug Sydnor FAIA, NCARB, highlights his collaboration with Vito Acconci on Scottsdale’s Loloma Transit Center and illustrates the collision between art and architecture through the collaborative process. Doug Sydnor shares behind-the-scenes insights into the efforts, across disciplines, to take an idea from vision to reality. 

The Green Room Landscape Architecture, Phoenix, AZ. With a focus on rewilding and indigenous materials, Charlie Ray, ASLA Principal, and Matt Thomas, PLA, ASLA, bring the outside into the gallery, embedding architectural drawings among a collection of cholla ribs found on desert research trips and site visits.

The School of Architecture, Scottsdale, AZ. The students and faculty at TSOA embrace the visual language of drawing and collage and, engage contemporary and conceptual design practices to imagine the future of landscape and human-scale environments.
